(abbr. TN-C; approved gene symbol: TNC) The tenascin-C gene localized to chromosome 9q32-q34 (Gulcher et al, 1990; Rocchi et al, 1991) comprises at least 30 introns (27 described originally by Gulcher et al, 1991, additional exons identified subsequently (Gherzi et al, 1995; Sriramarao and Bourdon, 1993; Mighell et al, 1997).
Tenascin-C, called previously Tenascin (abbr. TN) is a large secreted oligomeric extracellular matrix glycoprotein in which six monomers are disulfide-linked at their N-termini to extend from a central core (referred to as hexabrachion) (Erickson, 1993; Jones and Jones, 2000).
