[tripartite motifs]
The tripartite motif (sometimes called TRIM domain) is composed of a RING finger domain with several zinc-binding regions, one or two B-box motifs, and a coiled-coil domain (Micale et al, 2012). It is found in a family of proteins with varying biological activities ranging from cell cycle regulation, gene expression, autophagy and cell death by apoptosis, and functions in innate immunity signmaling pathways, thus playing diverse roles in a number of diseases, including cancer (Hatakeyama, 2011; Kawai and Akira, 2011; Napolitano and Meroni, 2012; Oshiumi et al, 2012; Versteeg et al, 2014; Watanabe and Hatakeyama, 2017). These proteins are often called collectively
