Physalaemin (pEADPNKFYGLMamide) is a peptide belonging to the family of Tachykinins, isolated from the skin of the frog, Physalaemus fuscomaculatus (Erspamer et al, 1964). It is considered an analog of Substance P.
Physalaemin potently lowers the blood pressure in dogs and rabbits, shows striking tachyphylaxis in the cat, and produces a predominantly hypertensive effect in chicken.
