Johnsen et al (2000) have purified three neuropeptides from the central nervous system of the giant tiger prawn Penaeus monodon, Pem SKI [Penaeus monodon sulfakinin 1] (pQFDEY(SO3H)GHMRFamide; pQFDEYGHMRFamide), Pem SKII [Penaeus monodon sulfakinin 2] (GGSGGVGGEYDDYGHLRFamide), and Pem SKIII [Penaeus monodon sulfakinin 3] (VGGEYDDYGHLRFamide), which is a truncated form of Pem SKII. These peptides belong to a class of neuropeptides structurally and functionally similar to the vertebrate brain-gut peptides cholecystokinin
