[paired immunoglobulin-like receptor B] PIRB is a type 1 transmembrane protein identified as a member of the Ig gene superfamily in mice by Kubagawa et al (1997). The PIRB protein has an uncharged transmembrane region and a long cytoplasmic tail containing four ITIM motifs. The PIRB gene is expressed in B-lymphocytes and myeloid lineage cells.
