[proline-glycine-proline] PGP is a neutrophil chemoattractant derived from the extracellular matrix. PGP is generated from collagen in a proteolytic pathway involving matrix metalloproteases MMP-8 and MMP-9 and prolyl endopeptidase.
PGP can be degraded by the aminopeptidase activity of LTA4H [leukotriene A4 hydrolase; LTA-4 hydrolase], which destroys the neutrophil chemoattractant activity and leads to the resolution of acute inflammation (Snelgrove et al, 2010)
