[New Zealand black mice serum factor] NZB is an inbred strain of black mice with a high incidence of autoimmune defects characterized, among other things, by defects in pre-T-cells, T-cells and B-cells, defects in DNA repair, and abnormal levels of thymic hormones. NZB mice also suffer from glomerular and tubular kidney dysfunctions and develop a severe autoimmune hemolytic anemia.
