The Gr-1 epitope is present on both Ly6C and Ly6G (Fleming et al, 1993) and is therefore being referred to also as Ly6c/G.
The Gr-1 epitope is detected as cell surface antigen RB6-8C5 by a monoclonal antibody of the same name. The antigen is expressed on myeloid cells, increases with granulocyte maturation, whereas expression is transient on cells in the monocytic lineage. RB6-8C5(high) cells are enriched for end-stage
