[Fibronectin stimulating factor] This factor of approximately 30-40 kDa is found in the conditioned medium of monocytes with or without stimulation by bacterial lipopolysaccharides (Lanser and Brown, 1988). FSF induces the production of Fibronectin and fibrinogen and suppresses the production of albumin in rat hepatocytes. The factor is not identical with IL1-alpha, IL1-beta or TNF-alpha. FSF activity has been shown to be neutralized completely by antibodies against IL6 (Lanser and Brown, 1989).
