(approved gene symbol) [Ets variant gene 6] This gene is known also as TEL [an acronym from translocation, ets, leukemia], which Golub et al (1994) have identified as part of a fusion transcript in chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. The gene is being referred to also as TEL1. Baens et al (1996) have described the genomic structure of the gene.
ETV6 encodes a transcription factor belonging to the Ets family. Frequent rearrangements or fusions with other genes are observed in human myeloid or lymphoid leukemias (Odero et al, 2002; Barjesteh van Waalwijk van Doorn-Khosrovani S et al, 2005; Golub et al, 1994, 1995; Romana et al, 1995).
