Caspase-8

[Apoptosis-related cysteine protease 8] abbr. and approved gene symbol: CASP8. This enzyme (EC3.4.22.61 in the enzyme catalogue nomenclature) is a member of a family of evolutionarily conserved cysteine protease proteins known as caspases. Many of these enzymes are part of a proteolytic cascade that plays a central role in cell death by apoptosis. Other designations are MACH, FLICE, and MCH5.
