[CD39-like-2] Other designations: ENTPD6 [ectonucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase 6]. Also: NTPDase-6 [nucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase 6]. The human gene encoding this enzyme (484 amino acids) has been cloned by Chadwick and Frischauf (1997). The protein shares considerable amino acid identity with the human lymphoid cell activation antigen CD39. The gene is expressed in all tissues but predominantly in the heart in cardiac muscle and capillary endothelial cells. A splice variant has been identified in fetal brain (Yeung et al, 2000). CD39L2 preferentially hydrolyzes nucleotide diphosphates rather than triphospates.
