in older publications this term has been used for an endopeptidase that is present mainly in the brush border membrane of the renal proximal tubule (Olins et al, 1987) degrades the peptide hormone Atrial natriuretic factor. Atriopeptidase is the same as NEP [neutral endopeptidase] (EC3.4.24.11). In the nomenclature of CD antigens the enzyme has been given the designation CD10.
